Dabney Schmitt holds two degrees from Smith College. She is married, the mother of two sons and has one grandson. She is an avid reader, travel enthusiast (all 50 states and 60+ countries), opera lover, skier and hiker. She has climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro with her family. Dabney Schmitt is a native of Washington, DC. When her son Landon died, her family felt a keen responsibility to do something in his name for the disadvantaged Vietnamese children he cared deeply about. With the help of many friends who have been on this journey with her family for almost seven years now, they built Landon’s School for blind and visually impaired children in Quang Tri Province. Then they discovered Children of Vietnam and the good work it is doing in and around DaNang. For the last three years, through COV’s Hope System of Care for Children with Disabilities (HSC), Landon’s Fund has greatly improved children’s lives through nutrition supplementation, school scholarships, medical interventions, group support for their families and loans to begin small businesses that will help alleviate their poverty. Dabney is a retired Development Director for a private School.
