What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund is a philanthropic giving vehicle that functions like a charitable savings account. It provides you with an immediate tax benefit while allowing you to easily support Children of Vietnam and other charities over time. Generally, you can contribute cash, appreciated securities, and other assets-including some that COV may not be able to accept as a direct gift.
How Do Donor-Advised Funds Work?
DAFs can be easily set up through your financial institution or a community foundation to serve as a flexible charitable giving vehicle. For more information on how to establish a DAF, contact your financial advisor or community foundation.
Note: Individual situations vary, so donors should consult their tax or financial advisors.
Why Use a Donor-Advised Fund to Support COV?
-
Eliminates capital gains on donated stock; provides immediate tax deduction
-
Your DAF account can grow over time, potentially increasing your charitable impact
-
Set up recurring DAF grants to provide steady, predictable support for children in Vietnam
-
Quickly direct funds when urgent needs arise-like flood recovery or crisis intervention
-
One vehicle to manage all your charitable giving, with consolidated tax reporting
