Empowering Mothers
A single mother in poverty faces an impossible task every day: care for her children, while earning a living. This crisis traps entire families in a cycle where mere survival consumes hope for a better tomorrow. Our program empowers mothers with financial and small business training, micro loans, leadership opportunities, community building and additionally, school scholarships which break the poverty cycle so they can build security for their families’ future.
In Vietnam, single mothers often bear the weight of poverty alone. Isolated and with limited access to resources, they struggle to provide both immediate care and long-term security for their children. The lack of affordable childcare, stable employment, and safe housing creates a multidimensional dilemma. This isn't just about economic hardship; mothers live in a constant state of stress that denies both their children and themselves the stability needed to heal from trauma, learn new skills and grow in confidence and resilience.
By the numbers
Families headed by single mothers are significantly more likely to experience multidimensional poverty.
Lack of childcare is a primary barrier to sustainable employment for single mothers.
The stress of constant economic insecurity has profound impacts on both maternal and child mental and physical health.
